Bright Future Pediatric Services
At Bright Future Pediatrics, we believe that a close and ongoing partnership between parents and providers is an integral part of our goal to provide you with the best possible healthcare.
Well-Child Services Provided at Bright Future Pediatrics
Bright Future is a family-centered pediatric office “home,” caring for children from birth through young adulthood. We understand and respect that each family has its own dynamic and we realize that religious beliefs, family values, and cultural backgrounds, coupled with your family’s medical history, are all critical factors in caring for the whole child.
Expecting Consultations
Having a baby is one of the most rewarding times of your life and we realize the importance of choosing a healthcare provider and a facility with features that meet your family’s needs. We share your joy and enthusiasm and look forward to the opportunity in partnering with you on the exciting journey of raising a child!
Call us to schedule a free consultation to find out where we are located, meet the staff, take a tour, learn about our care philosophy and have your baby care questions answered.
A Star is Born!
We have privileges at Kent General Hospital and one of our providers will be there to welcome and examine your baby and address any questions that you may have. Be sure to tell your obstetrician and the hospital staff that you have chosen Bright Future as your baby’s pediatrician and the hospital staff will notify us of your delivery.
If your baby is born at another hospital or birth center please request full discharge records when you leave to allow for a smooth transition of care to our practice.
Upon discharge, please contact our office to schedule your baby’s first well visit.
Well-Child Visits
Regular well child visits are one of the most important ways to give your child a healthy start and lay the foundation for the health and well-being of your child for his/her entire life. In addition to a full physical examination complete with any recommended screenings for common health issues and development problems, your pediatrician will provide you with important information about normal development stages, safety concerns, nutrition and any health issues that might be unique to our geographic area.
Most importantly you will have the opportunity to ask questions about your child’s health and development. Don’t be shy – bring your list! We are here to help you navigate through any concerns you may have such as sleeping, eating, toilet training, attention and learning problems, and social behaviors.
Well Teen Visits
Well visits for your teen are important! In addition to the typical well visit, the doctor will be able to assess how your teen is developing socially and emotionally. Because teens have a growing need for independence and privacy, your teen will have the opportunity to speak to the doctor in private regarding topics that influence his/her health such as nutrition, safety, exercise, sexuality, tobacco, alcohol and drug use. We understand that it might be hard for you to not be part of the whole office visit. It’s easier for teens to share information in private. Your support helps your teen begin to take responsibility for his/her own health.
Immunizations
Childhood vaccines ensure the health and safety of your child as well as the children around him or her. We respect a parent’s right to choose and are willing to work with parents who wish to use a delayed immunization schedule or have chosen not to vaccinate for religious, medical or philosophical reasons. This can be discussed in detailed at your child’s visit.
The state of Delaware requires all children to be up-to-date on their vaccines before they can be enrolled in Delaware schools or daycare facilities. Delaware provides exemptions for religious and medical reasons. For more information, contact the Delaware Division of Public Health at 1-800-282-8672(make click to call).
Under most circumstances, we follow the immunization schedule recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
- 2017 CDC Recommended Immunization Schedule for Children, Birth through Age 6
- 2017 CDC Recommended Immunization Schedule for Children Ages 8-18
- Helpful Information from CDC for Parents
CDC Vaccination Information Statements (VIS) are information sheets that explain both the benefits and risks of a vaccine. Federal law requires that VISs be presented to the vaccine recipient, or their parent/legal guardian, before the vaccine is given and our staff will present you with the appropriate VIS handout(s) at the time of your child’s immunization visit.
